Donna Rae P. Shumway

Donna Rae McDowell Shumway of 1241 Seneca Ave., formerly of Jay Street, passed away Wednesday (Oct. 22, 2008) at home. Mrs. Shumway was born Dec. 29, 1931, in Olean. She was formerly married to Frank H. Shumway. In July 1968 she married Loren M. Shumway who predeceased her on Oct. 19, 1978. She attended Olean schools and was a self employed housekeeper until her retirement in 1996. Mrs. Shumway enjoyed needlework, puzzles and reading. She was fondly known as "Grammy Shummy" and deeply loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Surviving are three sons, Loran F. Shumway, Elden H. (Patricia) Shumway and Lary M. (Pam) Shumway, all of Olean; four grandchildren, Amber Derlein, Megan, Loran D. and Paul Shumway; a great-grandson, Isaiah Shumway; seven brothers and sisters; and several nieces and nephews. A private graveside service was held today (Friday, Oct. 24, 2008) in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville. The Rev Kristen Allen of Christ United Methodist Church officiated. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home Inc. Olean.
