Glenn L. Houghtaling, Jr. of 339 North 7th Street, passed away Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Olean General Hospital, following a short illness.
Glenn was born on June 28, 1965 in Hornell and was a son of Glenn L. and Arlouine A. Braley Houghtaling, Sr. He worked at Angee's Restaurant, Century Manor and Beef-N-Barrel, where he retired after 8 years. Glenn volunteered at the St. Vincent dePaul Society Store. He was a member of the Obi Community Church, Christopher Columbus Lodge, the Olean American Legion, and St. Stephan's Club.
Glenn enjoyed fishing and softball and played on many teams. He was a NASCAR fan who liked Jeff Gordon and a Miami Dolphins fan. Glenn loved country music, especially Reba McIntyre. He was well known as "Weasel" and "Spoons." Glenn loved Olean and all of its people, to include playing on many pool and dart leagues for several local business owners.
Glenn is survived by five siblings, Jackie M. (Dave) Mears of Hornell, Jerry L. Houghtaling of Olean, Judy M. Houghtaling of Virginia, Arlouine A. Lawson of Olean, and Gary L. Houghtaling of Olean; and many nieces & nephews.
Glenn was predeceased by his father, Glenn L. Houghtaling, Sr. on Nov. 2, 1990; and his sister, Jessie M. Murphy on May 16, 2016.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean, on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from 10:00am to 12:00 Noon, at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. Lelon H. Allen, Sr., Glenn's Uncle will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery, Olean.
