James E. Theodore

James E. "Jim" Theodore, Sr. of 717 Prince St. passed away Friday, September 14, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jim was born October 8, 1944, the son of Francis J. and Dorothy Kifer Theodore. On May 29, 1965, at Transfiguration Church, he married Carol A. Mikolajczyk, who predeceased him on July 3, 2007. Jim was a graduate of Olean High School and Apex Tech School. For 20 plus years he worked for Agway (C F Industries), as chief operator. Jim also owned and operated "Jet Plumbing and Heating" and worked as head of maintenance for St Mary's and Christ United Methodist Churches. An active member in the Elks Lodge for 28 years, he was a past Exhaulted Ruler, and past Elk of the Year, Olean Lodge #491. Jim was the 2nd of 4 generations of Elks. Jim was also a member of the Moose Club, and a past member of The Olean American Legion, Eagles Club, and Christopher Columbus Club. Jim liked to camp, fish, boating, NASCAR and horse racing with his special friend Carl, but most of all he enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving Mr. Theodore are a son, James E. (Sharon) Theodore of Olean; two daughters, Julie E. (Paul Surra) Theodore of Olean, and Jennifer E. (Steven) Army of Canandaigua; seven grandchildren, Ashlee, Janelle, Kristopher, Ambrielle, Brandon, Sydney, and Jakob; one great grandson, Maverick James; Twin sisters, Jean (Mark) Sabella and Jane Theodore; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Theodore was predeceased by two brothers Thomas and Charles Francis Theodore. Friends will be received Sunday, September 16, 2012 from 1-3 and 6-8 PM, in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 East State Street, Olean. Funeral services will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 633 Linwood Ave. Olean, Monday September 17, 2012 at 11:00 AM. The Rev. Ronald Isman will officiate. Burial will be in St Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, N.Y. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Elks National Foundation (ENF) or special projects, Olean Elks Lodge #491, West State Street, Olean, N. Y. 14760. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. 646 East State Street, Olean. Online condolences may be made by clicking on the button above.
