Donald Edward Morris passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, in Polo, Ill., at the home of his son. Donald was born Sept. 18, 1923, in Limestone. He was a son of Arthur and Evelyn Morris. On June 27,1948, in Bolivar, Donald married his wife of more than 59 years, Alberta May Mascho, who preceded him in death in January 2007. Donald attended Bolivar schools. He was a 32-degree Mason in the Enchanted Mountain Lodge, from which he earned the distinguished service award. Donald was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. He also served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific theater. He retired from ConRail (formerly Pennsylvania Railroad), where he worked for more than 35 years. Donald was a loving father and husband for almost 60 years. He loved to hunt, fish and go camping. Donald was the kind of man that could make a friend anywhere he went. He will be sorely missed by his family and all of his friends. Donald is survived by two children, Dennis Morris of Polo, and Robin Morris of Beaverton, Ore.; four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Along with his loving wife, Donald was preceded in death by two sisters, Amee Kolata and Vivian Traver. There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m. Monday (Oct. 8, 2012) at the Mount View Cemetery Veterans Field of Honor. The Rev. William Allen, pastor of Christ United Methodist Church, will officiate. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home Inc., 646 E.State St., Olean.
