October 31, 1963 — April 14, 2012

Gayle L. Colby of 218 Winters Ave, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2012 at home following a short illness, surrounded by her loving family. Gayle was born on Oct. 31, 1963 in Salem, Ohio and was a daughter of the late Joanne Skadowski Hovey. On June 5, 1986 in Hinsdale she married Gary M. Colby who survives. Gayle graduated from Olean High School. She worked for over 9 years at Hills Department Store in the Olean Center Mall. 16 years ago in 1995, Gayle began working at Wal-Mart in Allegany, where she was currently a Customer Service Manager. Gayle was truly an avid sports fan. She formerly enjoyed bowling & playing darts. Her all time favorite sport was baseball and her team was the New York Yankees. She also enjoyed camping but most of all she loved children and more importantly adored her grandchildren. She will be missed by many people who loved her. Surviving Gayle are a son, Brandon J. (Peggy Hamlin) Zaleski of Rochester; a daughter, Kerri L. (Andrew) Scull of Olean; two step daughters, Tabitha A. (Robert) Bergevin of Franklinville, and Renee E. (Devon) Callahan of West Point, NY; twelve grandchildren, Caleb, Logan, Jessica, Alyssa, Nicholas, Mary, William, Aurelia, Gage, Brenna, Emry and Bray; five brothers, Joseph (Kristen) Hovey of Olean, Max Hovey of Olean, Wayde (Cindy) Hovey of Newark, Ohio, her twin brother, Gary L. Hovey of Salamanca, and Greg (Barbara) Hovey of Belmont; two sisters, Lori (David) Woods of Sperry, Oklahoma, and Marcine Delo of Lakeville, MN; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Wednesday, April 18, 2012, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean, where funeral and committal services will be held on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at 10:00 am. The Rev. Deborah L. Turley, Pastor of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church of Depew, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Canaan House #1140 Walden Ave, Cheektowaga, NY 14211. Online condolences may be made by clicking on the button above.
