Gerald R. Weatherley of 512 N. 8th Street, passed away Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010 in the Olean General Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer.
Mr. Weatherly was born on Jan. 13, 1951 in Olean and was a son of Leslie W. and Nina E. Wilber Weatherley. He was a graduate of Olean High School Class of 1969. Mr. Weatherley worked at Dresser and then Hills Department Store for 2 years and the AMES for 3 years. For the past 8 years he has worked for the Rehabilitation Center, cleaning at Cooper, until Dec. of 2009 when he retired due to his illness. Mr. Weatherley enjoyed hunting, carpentry and working on his truck. He truly loved being in the outdoors.
Surviving Mr. Weatherley are love of his life, Charlene M. Dugrenier with whom he lived; a son, Scott Weatherley of Olean; two daughters, Suzanne (Alan) Mendaz of New Jersey, and Michelle Weatherley of Olean; a grandson, Adam Weatherley; three brothers, Bob Weatherley of Allegany, Paul (Joyce) Weatherley of Texas, and Karl Weatherley of of Cuba; five sisters, Geraldine Blade of Olean, Martha Weatherley of Olean, Pearl Brown of Olean, Dorothy Guerin of Hammondsport, and Virginia Weatherley of Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Weatherley was pre-deceased by three brothers, Raymond, Daniel and Lavern Weatherley.
Friends will be received for gathering of remembrance in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. On Monday, Feb. 8, 2010 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. At Mr. Weatherley request there will not be a formal funeral service.
