Frederick A. Gabler

Frederick A. Gabler, Jr. of 3653 Karl Rd. passed away Tuesday, June 1, 2010 at 83 years of age at the Olean General Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Gabler was born on April 2, 1927 in Olean, N.Y. and was the son of Frederick and Isabel Flicker Gabler, Sr. On June 10, 1950 he married his wife of almost 60 years, Marion E. Vreeland, at the Five Mile Baptist Church in Allegany, N.Y., who survives. Mr. Gabler being a lifelong resident of the Olean area, he graduated from both the Olean High School and Veterans Vocational School of Troy, NY. He served with the US Navy in the European Theater during World War II. Mr. Gabler retired from Clark Bros. / Dresser Rand after 38 years of service. Mr. Gabler was a member of the Five Mile Baptist Church where he served as the treasurer for 40 years. He had been a volunteer at the Olean General Hospital for over 17 years. Mr. Gabler enjoyed gardening and fishing. Surviving Mr. Gabler, besides his wife are three sons, Timothy (Sue Ellen) Gabler of Bedford, OH, Thomas (Denise) Gabler of Allegany, NY, and Terrance (Cynthia) Gabler of Latham, NY; seven grandchildren, David T. (Melissa) Gabler of Bedford, OH, Kyle T. (Abby) Gabler of Allegany, NY, Ryan S. Gabler of Bedford, OH, Kristen N. (Ryan) Dea of Bedford, OH, Kolby J. Gabler of Allegany, NY, Jonathan D. Gabler of Latham, NY, and Matthew J. Gabler of Latham, NY; three great grandchildren, Chloe G. Gabler, Leyton A. Gabler, and Addison P. Gabler; a sister, Sandra (Raymond) Ranic of Tucson, AZ; and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Friday, June 4, 2010 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm and 6:00pm to 8:00pm Friends will also be received on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at the Five Mile Baptist Church from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at which time Funeral and Committal Services will be held. Pastor Michael R. Sanders, will officiate with former Pastor Roy Kinney. Burial will be in the Five Mile Cemetery, Allegany, NY Memorials may be made to the Allegany Engine House 186 West Main Street, Allegany, NY 14706 or to the Five Mile Baptist Church #3624 Five Mile Road, Allegany, NY 14706.
