John A. Leikam

John A. Leikam, of 4115 South 9 Mile Rd, Valley View Estates, lot 123, formerly of Arkwright, NY passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at the Absolut of Allegany, following a short illness. John was born March 7, 1925 in LaJunta, CO and was a son of George A. and Goldie May Staley Leikam. He was formerly married to Jeanne Hengel. On Feb. 14, 1997 in Benson, AZ he married Mary Emma Jones, who survives. John served in the Army from June 6, 1945 to December 1, 1946. He was a ranch hand at several different ranches out west. John also worked at Dowcraft in Jamestown where he retired from. During this time he also established a white face Hereford beef farm in Arkwright. John was artistic person he also enjoyed playing horseshoes, shooting pool, bowling, working on the farm. He loved horses and was an amateur rodeo cowboy. Along with his loving wife, John is survived by two sons, Carson J. (Beverly nee Fadale) Leikam of Jamestown, and Marvin G. (Charlotte nee Young) Leikam of Tacoma, WA; one daughter, Jessica J. Carreras of Forestville; four grandchildren, Kyle Leikam, Jason Allen Leikam and Tracy Leikam and Andrew J. Carreras; five great grandchildren; one sister, Georgina Lillian Avara of Alamogordo, NM; and several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by a daughter, Audrey Leikam on 3/15/1995; a brother, Edward Leikam; and a son-in-law, Felix Carreras Jr. on 6/12/2002. Friends will be received Friday, May 24, 2013 at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at which time a Funeral Service will be held. The Rev. Terry Jenks, Pastor of the Hinsdale Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be at the Cherry Creek Cemetery, Cherry Creek, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049. Online condolences may be made by clicking on the button above.
