Sister Susan Osmola, OSR of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany died Tiresday (April 28, 2009) at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, NJ.
She was born Oct. 27,1947, the daughter of Michael and June Calvert Osmola, formerly of Runnemede.
She was received into the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of A1legany at St. Elizabeth Motherhouse on Feb. 26,1978, and Professed her final religious vows on Feb. 15,1986.
Sister Susan faithfully lived the mission of the Franciscan Sisters of Allegany for 32 years. She graduated from Temple University School of Nursing in 1966. She ministered as a nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Olean as well as at hospitals in Miami Beach, West Palm Beach and Tampa, Fla. For the past five years, Sister Susan was employed by Samaritan Hospital in Marlton.
She recently completed a master's degree Program in pastoral counseling from Neumann College in Aston, Pa, On April 21, 2009, she defended her thesis and her graduation was scheduled for May 2009. Sister Susan is survived by her mother, June Calvert O'Connell.
She was predeceased by her father.
A wake service is scheduled for Sunday at 6:30 p.m. in the chapel of St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, Allegany, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday (May 4,2009) at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
