Harold Allen Gross

Harold Gross of 1298 Old Rock City Rd. passed away Sat. Nov. 7, 2009 at The Wellsville Manor. Mr. Gross was born on Sept. 6, 1937 in Portville and was the son of Harrison Blin and Irene Elizabeth Letson Gross. On May 25, 1974 in St. Andrews Methodist Church, in Weston Mills, he married his wife of 35 years, Denise Foltz who survives. Mr. Gross attended Allegany High School. He served in the U.S. Air Force from Dec. 28, 1955 until Sept. 24, 1957. Mr. Gross began working at Clark Brothers in Olean and retired 42 years later in 1999. He worked in the foundry and shipping departments. Mr. Gross was a member of the Pulaski Club and the St. Stephens club. He was a former member of the Olean VFW and the Eagles. Mr. Gross enjoyed building model airplanes and was a WWII buff. Surviving Mr. Gross besides his wife are two sons, David Allen Gross of Clarksville, TN., and Harold Allen (Tracy) Gross of Big Bear, CA.; two daughters, Laura K. Stringer of Allegany, and Kelly A. (Robert) Williams of Winston Salem, NC.; and four grandchildren, Joseph Williams, Bonnie Williams, Sydney Stringer and Grace Kathleen Gross. Mr. Gross was predeceased by two brothers, an infant brother Larry Gross and Herbert Gross; and one sister, Barbara Senyk. At Mr. Gross' request there will be no public visitation. A memorial graveside service with full military honors will be held in the spring of 2010 in the Mt. View Cemetery, Veterans Field. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Catt County SPCA. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean.
