George R. Foster of 315 South 4th Street, passed away Sunday, Nov. 29, 2009 in the Absolut Care in Allegany. Mr. Foster was born on July 5, 1941 in Olean and was a son of Alfred L. and Vera V. Cleveland Foster. He was formerly married to Susan Buchanan. On Jan 17, 1998 in Allegany he married Sherry L. Bernheisel, who survives. Surviving besides his wife are two sons, George R. (Tina) Foster, Jr. of Portville, and Joshua P. (Erika) Foster of Olean; four daughters, Donna D. Foster of Olean, Myra M. (Lee) Hubbard of Portville, Brittany M. Foster of Bradford, and Caitlin J. Foster of Bradford; 7 Grandchildren; two brothers, Edward J. (Cynthia) Foster, Sr. of Olean, and Dorrance E. (Mary) Foster of Olean; four sisters, Betsy Lewis of Lakewood, Irene Spaulding of Jamestown, Donna Lysaght of Sacramento, Ca, and Dorothy J. Michienzi of Olean; and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Foster was pre-deceased by a daughter, Amy Lynn Foster in 1970; three brothers, Charles, Marshall and Alfred Foster; three sisters, Evelyn Bushey, Rose Miller and Marion Foster. Mr. Foster received a degree in engineering from Buffalo University. He worked on the Erie Lackawanna Rail Road for 4 years and then for Ridge Homes in Portville for a number of Years before going to work for Thropp Oil Wells. Mr. Foster then worked for St. Bonaventure University in the Engineering Dept. for 32 years. He retired in 2004 due do illness as Chief Engineer. Friends will be received Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 P.M. in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009 at 11:30 A.M. in the United Pentecostal Church. The Rev. Steven W. Beattie, Pastor, Will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
