Genevieve H. Consedine

Genevieve H. Consedine, formerly of 119 Irving Street and Eden Heights, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the Pine Health and Rehabilitation following a long illness. Mrs. Consedine was born in Olean on January 2, 1912 and was the daughter of Peter and Florence Kujawa Hoffman. On October 24, 1936 in St. Mary of the Angels Church she married John Norman Consedine, who predeceased her in 1990. Mrs. Consedine graduated in 1930 from Olean High School and in 1931 from Westbrook Academy. Mrs. Consedine worked as a secretary for Olean Tile for 8 years and later as a legal secretary for Hornburg, Diggs & Hornburg for 16 years until her retirement in the early 1980's. After her retirement she worked at the Center Bookstore in the Olean Center Mall. Mrs. Consedine was a member of St. Mary of the Angels Church, Catholic daughters of America and a past President of the NY/Penn Unit #129 of the American Contract Bridge League. She was 50 year player of contract bridge. She also enjoyed golf and was a former member of the Birch Run Country Club. Mrs. Consedine truly loved her family and enjoyed playing contract bridge. Mrs. Consedine is survived by two sons, John R (Judy) Consedine of Cuba, and Daniel N ( Constance) Consedine of Galena, IL.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Matthew) Walla of Hoboken, NJ, Timothy (Cheryl) Consedine of Beverly, MA., J. Christopher Consedine of Cuba, and Eileen Consedine of Denver, CO. a great grandson. John "Jack" Consedine of Beverly, MA.; and a daughter-in-law and care giver, Nancy R. Consedine of Olean. Mrs. Consedine is predeceased by a son, Michael K. Consedine on April 23, 2001; two sisters, Eleanor and Regina Hoffman; and three brothers, William, Frances and Peter Hoffman. Friends will be received in the St. Mary of the Angels Church on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be held. The Rev. Barry Allaire will celebrate in the absence of Pastor Gregory J. Dobson. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany, NY In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Mary of the Angels Church or to the Interfaith Care Givers. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean.
