The Rev. Donald F. Anderson of 1530 Olean Portville Road, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009 at home from an apparent heart attack, surrounded by his loving family. The Rev. Anderson was born on July 27, 1934 in WCA Hospital in Jamestown and was a son of the late Floyd and Lillian Frank Anderson. On April 10, 1964 at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Petersburg, Fl., he married his wife Judith Ann Norman, who survives. The Rev. Anderson was a Second Lt in the U.S. Army. He was a Graduate of St. Bonaventure University and Augustana Theological Seminary. He was ordained as a Lutheran Priest on June 27, 1962. He also received an MBA at Rutgers University in NJ in 1986. The Rev. Anderson was pastor at churches in Hallandale, Fl; Falconer, NY; Farnham, NY; Jersey City, NJ; Cranford, NJ; North Arlington, NJ and most currently was an interim Pastor at Bethany Lutheran Church in Olean. The Rev. Anderson was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Portville, National Speakers Association, studied at the Urban Training Center in Chicago, Ill was a member of the a Barbershop Group in NJ. He was an avid reader, enjoyed traveling, gardening and was a big fan of the Buffalo Bills, NY Yanks and the Bonnies Basketball. The Rev. Anderson will be remembered as a gentle man who loved his family unconditionally. Surviving the Rev. Anderson besides his wife of 45 years are four daughters, Maura (Jonathan) Armus of Flagstaff, AZ., Greta (Carla Coleman) Anderson of Hamilton, NJ., Sara-Britt (Frank) Williams of Cranford, NJ., and Katrina (Anthony) Dobbins of Cranford, NJ.; eight beautiful grandchildren, Rebecca, Linnea, Ty, Hailey, Austin, Kirsten, Tatum, Ava Grace; and several close cousins who reside in the Olean area. The Rev. Anderson was predeceased by a sister, Mary Lou Anderson. Friends will be received on Friday, Oct. 9, 2009 from 2-5 PM in the Bethany Lutheran Church, where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Paula E. Roulette, Pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church of Portville and Bishop Marie C. Jerge, Bishop of the Upper State New York Synod of the ELCA will officiate. Burial will be in the Rutledge Rural Cemetery, Conewango, New York. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Bethany Lutheran Church, 3 Leo Moss Drive, Olean, NY 14760 or to the Bethel Lutheran Church, 79 Brooklyn Street, Portville, NY 14770 or to Mt. Irenaeus, Box 100, West Clarksville, NY 14786. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. 646 E. State Street, Olean.
