Todd Edwin Metz, Sr., of 113 Richardson Ave. Richburg, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2017 in the shortly after arrival at the Jones Memorial Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
Todd was born on Jan. 31, 1963 in Olean and was a son of Gerald E. and Isabelle Hasting Metz. On July 18, 1981 in Bolivar, he married his wife of 36 years, Marcia J. Hewitt, who survives.
Todd was a 1981 graduate of Bolivar Central School. After getting married, he and his wife moved to Wyoming where he enlisted in the US Army, serving from Nov. 23, 1982 to March 22,1986. While Todd was serving, he was stationed in Alaska and fondly remembered as "Booboo". After active duty, he served in the US Army Reserves in Olean for about 4 years. He attended Alfred State College for Mechanical Engineering. Todd started work at Heritage Cutlery Scissor Factory in Bolivar, and then went to work at Morrison Knudsen in Hornell, then to Larmer Norton (Baseball Bat Factory) in Ellicottville. He was currently working at Saputo in Friendship for the past 10 years.
Todd enjoyed watching NASCAR especially Dale Earnhardt, and watching football and was an avid Oakland Raiders fan. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes, but he truly loved spending time with his family especially his granddaughter, Natasha.
Todd is survived by three children, Todd E. (Ashley Shaffer) Metz, Jr. of Olean, Nicholle M. Metz of Richburg and Renee K. (Shanna Phommaxaysy) Metz of Henrietta; one granddaughter, Natasha Metz; three step granddaughters, Mary, Ally, & Alyssa Metz; one step grandson, Raydyn Phommaxaysy; many nieces & nephews; and a special friend, Wendy L. Barkley of Richburg.
Friends will be received on Friday Aug. 25, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State Street, Olean, where Funeral services will be held on Sat. Aug. 26 at 1:00 pm. The Rev. David W. Herne, Pastor of the Heritage of Flame Ministries, will officiate. Burial will be in the Richburg Cemetery, Richburg.
