Edward J. Kinsey, of 179 North Second Street, passed away on Monday Oct. 9, 2017, at the Olean General Hospital, following an illness.
Ed was born Aug. 20, 1924 in Seward, PA and was a son of Clayton and Lida Moote Kinsey. He married Dorothea Brooks, who predeceased him in 1971. On Sept. 28, 1973 in Delevan, he married his loving wife of 43 years, Rosella Hyatt Simon, who predeceased him on Feb. 27, 2017.
Ed was a 1942 graduate of Machias High School. He enlisted in the US Navy during World War II from July 9, 1943 to Feb. 20, 1946, where he served on the USS LST 600. Ed worked as an Automation Trouble Shooter for Ford Motor Company in Buffalo for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He and his wife lived in Florida for 25 years, returning in 2006. Ed was an avid NY Yankees fan. He especially loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Ed is survived by 2 daughters; Sandra H. (Robert) Martiny of New Smyrna Beach FL, and Sharon L. McAfee of Allegany; 3 step daughters; Karen L. (Steve) Johnson of Cape Canaveral, FL and Chatauqua Lake, Christine A. Simon of Tuscon, AZ and Michelle McCready of Allegany; 7 grandchildren; Michael J. (Tiffany) McAfee, Patrick J. (Bridgette) McAfee, Cari-Anne (Vinnie) Dombeck all of Allegany, Jennifer Martiny of West Seneca, Gretchen M. Spencer of Olean, and Steve & Jeff Chicola of Jacksonville, FL; 13 great grandchildren; 6 great great grandchildren; and a half-sister; Diane (Peter) Snayczak of Machias; a son-in-law, James C. McAfee of Cuba Lake.
Along with his loving wives, Ed was predeceased by; a step grandson, David Chicola in 1988. A half-brother; Loren Holts; a half-sister; Deloris "Sissy" Holts.
Funeral Services will be private. Deacon Richard F. Matthews, will celebrate. Full military honors will be accorded by the Allegany American Legion, Charles Harbel Post #892 Ritual Team. Burial will be at the Mt. Prospect Cemetery in Franklinville.
