Olean- Pauline A. Glenn “Loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother” Pauline A. Glenn of Olean died on February 26, 2023, following a long illness, with family at her side.
Born August 7, 1928, in Olean, she was the daughter of the late Lyle E. and Cloa Clark Ames. On February 18, 1950, in the Olean Wesleyan Methodist Church, she married Claude F. Glenn, of Milesburg, PA, who died on February 7, 2006.
Pauline graduated from Olean High School in 1946 and trained as a nurse at Arnot-Ogden Memorial Hospital in Elmira, NY, graduating in 1949. Although her first priority always was being a wife and mother, she worked as a registered nurse at several hospitals over the years, including Olean General Hospital, Parkway Regional Medical Center in Florida, and in private duty. Pauline was a dedicated Christian. She was longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Olean, first joining in 1959, and served on the diaconate there. She also sang in the choir for many years and especially enjoyed lifting her voice in praise during the holiday “cantatas.” Pauline delivered Meals on Wheels to other seniors in the community well into her eighties. She served as a poll monitor with her daughter, Linda, and grandson, Luke, when she retired.
She loved quilting and made beautiful quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. Pauline also enjoyed reading and spending time with her furry companion of later years, Gussie. She loved to get together with friends and acquaintances old and new, sometimes donning a “red hat,” sometimes carrying a dish to pass, cards, sewing shears or a Bible. Pauline’s friends were friends for life and she rarely learned of a reunion of friends (or family) near or far that she didn’t long to attend.
Mrs. Glenn is survived by her children, Claudia (Joseph) Catalano of Allegany, Deborah (Steven) Hackett of Avon, Linda (Richard) Pecnik of Hinsdale and Perrysburg, Timothy Glenn of Hollywood, FL, and Daniel (Patricia) Glenn of Pembroke Pines, FL. Surviving also are 10 grandchildren, Adja Catalano, Rebecca (Steve Reinhardt) Bennett, Ruth (Adam) Argiro, Benjamin (Nicole) Hackett, Micah Hackett, Daniel Hackett, Meghan (Artis) Hooks, Luke (Kaitlyn) Penston, Jacob Bartlett, Alayna Pecnik and Aaron (Diana) Globerman. Finally, Mrs. Glenn is survived by ten great-grandchildren, Lily, Emma and Hanna Bennett; Matilda, Theron and Robert Hooks; Declan, Charles and Fionnuala Penston; and Sophia Globerman as well as several special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Jeanette Ames and Naomi “June” Hendy and two brothers, Vernon Ames and L. Frederick Ames.
