Olean- Geraldine L. Monroe “Loving Mother & Grandmother” Geraldine L. Monroe of The Pines of Olean, formerly of Aspen Towers passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2023. Geraldine was born on December 26, 1929, in Shinglehouse, PA and was the daughter of Ferdinand and Naomi Green Cross. On June 16, 1950, in Wellsville she married Lawrence F. Monroe Sr. who predeceased her on June 21, 1970. Geraldine was a 1947 graduate of Bolivar Central School. She was a member of the Olean Community Evangelical Church. Geraldine was a cashier and office manager at Loblaws for 37 years. She was a member of the UFCW and enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, working, and spending time with her family. Geraldine is survived by her two children, Kerry E. Monroe of Allegany and Patricia A. Lyman of Olean, 6 grandchildren: Eric (Nicole) Bailey, Steven Bailey, Alicia Bailey, Lawrence (Jasmine) Monroe, Joshua (Emily) Monroe, and Emily Monroe; many great and great great grandchildren and a brother, Carl (Margaret) Cross of Wellsville, brother-in-law Floyd Merriam of Houghton, and many nieces and nephews. Along with her husband, Lawrence, Geraldine was predeceased by her parents, her sisters, Elizabeth Lawton and Betty J. Merriam, and her granddaughter, Laura Bailey. Friends will be received at the Olean Community Church, 145 S 26th Street Olean on Saturday, February 4, 2023 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at which time a memorial service will be held. The Rev.
