Olean- Alex J. Rice “Choose Kindness, Laugh Often” Alex J. Rice of 311 N 4th St passed away at Olean General Hospital on Saturday September 10, 2022. Alex was born on December 14, 1995, in Wellsville and was the son of Mark F. Rice and Robin K. Faber-Bowser. Alex graduated from Olean High School in 2014. He played soccer for several years in school. Afterwards, Alex attended JCC for their welding program. Alex enjoyed swimming, rollerblading, running, kayaking, singing, listening to music, and spending time with his family and friends. Most of all he enjoyed making others laugh. He could always be depended on to lift someone’s spirits. Alex is survived by his parents, Mark F. (Liz) Rice of Angelica and Robin (Thomas) Bowser of Olean, siblings, Jamie K. Gaylor of Olean, Jordan T. (Hannah) Bowser of West Harrison, NY, Shelby N. Rice of Olean, Logan Rice, and Liviya Rice of Angelica, maternal grandmother Katherine E. Frantz of Olean, aunts, uncles, cousins and his nieces, Reagan and Laney Gaylor whom he loved beyond words and his dog, Baylor. Alex gave the ultimate gift as an organ donor. Please honor him with your own gift of life. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation made payable to the “Ski for Me” account at Community Bank PO Box 761 Portville, NY 14770 to help sponsor a child through the school ski program. A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean.
