Maxine L. Bennett, formerly of Cuba & Emerald Hills in Allegany and most recently the Absolut at Allegany Nursing Home, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in the Olean General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Maxine was born on March 2, 1933 in Newark Valley and was a daughter of Cecil C. and LaDella A. Bourne Tennant. She was formerly married to Everett J. Bennett.
Maxine worked at Barnes & Noble Book Store in Binghamton for about 10 years. She also worked at the Houghton and Cuba Nursing Homes. Maxine formerly attended the Cuba Presbyterian Church. She enjoyed county music and was avid reader.
Maxine is survived by a son, Daniel W. Bennett of Allegany; two grandchildren, Adam W. Bennett and Amy M. (Jayson) Minner; five great grandchildren, Richard C., Kyle A., Austin G., Ryan E., & Luke W. Miner; a great great granddaughter, Mia E. Minner; a brother, Darwin "Zeke" (Eileen) Tennant of Utica; 26 nieces & nephews; and a close friend, Mary Hupp of Cuba.
Maxine was predeceased by four siblings, Stanley, Omar, Gerald "Jake" Tennant & Viola Dedrick.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State Street, Olean on Thursday Aug. 24, 2017 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. Adam Stein, Pastor of the Creek Side Methodist Church will officiate.
