Olean- Doris A. Hale “Loving Mother & Grandmother” Doris A. Hale of 1032 W. Sullivan passed away on Wednesday May 18, 2022, at home. Doris was born on July 2, 1934, in Oswayo Valley and the daughter of Arthur and Ruth Coreen Tyler. On September 20, 1958, at the Eldred Methodist Church she married her husband Frank A. Hale who predeceased her on August 26, 2013. Doris graduated from Angelica High School in 1952 and worked as a cook at a number of restaurants including the Maple Manor, Pickups Restaurant, and Sullivan’s before opening her own restaurant “The Hoy Coy” on North Union Street in the late 1960s and early 1970s. Along with running her own restaurant she raised her family and her grandchildren. In her spare time, she enjoyed doing ceramics. Doris is survived by her one son, John A. (Shirley Miller) Harloff of Olean, her grandchildren; Misty A. Hurlburt and her two sons, Nolan and Jacob, Jason J. Harloff and his daughter Mak, Tabatha (Jacob Lute) Boysha and her two sons, Aiden and Leland, McKenzie Boysha, Misty (Kyle) Jackson and her two children Kyla and Kyle, Edward (Stacey) Maine and his three daughters, Arielle, Bella, and Tiana, Shannon M. Ross and her four children, Lexi, Jada, Brooke, and Xavier, Stacie L. (Ray) Baker and her two sons, Kohl and Karson, Tie M. Miller, and Justine A. (Pete) Messer and her son E.J. Doris also leaves behind seven siblings, Jerry Tyler, Cindy Graham, Jean Hooker, Gail Reedhead, Joan Hallett, Sally Tyler, and Dorothy Smith. Doris was predeceased by her parents, her husband, one son Frank A. Hale on November 25, 1959, two daughters, Cynthia K. Boysha on May 13, 2017 and Roxane E. Hale on February 26, 2020, one grandson Richard A. Boysha Jr. on August 29, 2006 and five siblings. Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Saturday May 21, 2021 from 11:00-1:00pm at which time a funeral service will be held. Rev. Charles Maine will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
