Olean - The Rev. Casser A. "Cass" Whitehead
The Rev. Casser A. "Cass" Whitehead, of 1718 Andrews Street, passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at the Olean General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Cass was born on May 2, 1948 in Olean and was a son of Casser Woodrow and Beatrice Louise Andress Whitehead. On Nov. 8, 2005 in Olean, he married Trena L. White, who survives.
After High School, Cass continued his schooling at Olean Business Institute earning his Associates Degree in Accounting and then attended United Wesleyan College earning his Bachelor of Science Degree in Pastoral Ministries. He worked in the Maintenance Department at Brockton Central School for a period of time, then he became a Pastor at a church in Portland for a period of time. Cass then moved to Olean and worked for Alle-Catt Taxi and as a garbage man in Olean, as well as having a delivery route. Cass enjoyed fishing and playing cards & chess.
Cass is survived by; 4 children, Patricia A. Claybrooke of Dunkirk, Melinda A. (Bill) Gill of Olean, Colleen A. Whitehead of Dunkirk, and Casser A. "CJ" Whitehead, Jr. of Olean; 9 grandchildren, Ki, Jade, Bill, Tylor, Ethan, Caleb, Xavier, Olivia, and Sebastian; 2 great grandchildren, Sage and Talia; 2 brothers, Alan (Cindy) Whitehead and Ronald Lee Whitehead both of Olean; and several nieces and nephews.
Cass was predeceased by 2 brothers, Brian and Blaine Whitehead.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State Street, Olean, on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2018 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. John Lounsbury, Pastor for the Cornerstone Baptist Church, will officiate. Online condolences may be made at www.LetroMcIntoshSpinkFuneralHome.com
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
