Patricia M. Kent

Patricia M. Kent of South Shore Road, Cuba, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2014, in the Olean General Hospital following a short illness. Mrs. Kent was born June 3, 1921 in Olean and was the daughter of B. Gilbert and Laura Grandusky Scholl. On Feb. 22, 1940 at St. Bonaventure Church in Allegany, she married her husband of 67 years, Herbert T. Kent, who predeceased her July 11, 2007. Patricia graduated from Allegany Central School in 1939. She worked for the Allegany Post Office and then helped at Kent's Kendall Service in Olean. Patricia and her husband turned Kent's Kendall Service into Kent's Marine in Olean and on Cuba Lake for about 45 years until retiring in 2002. She wintered in Florida for about 20 years. Patricia is a former member of the Olean Elks Lodge. She enjoyed swimming, reading, and walking, but she truly loved her weekly luncheons at the Cuba Senior Center with Betty and friends. Patricia is survived by two sons, Herbert J. (Lynne) Kent of Franklinville, and Stephen G. (Karen) Kent of Portville; two daughters, Jacquelyn (Kenneth) Fowler of Portville, and B. Bonnie (Dave) Lancaster of Lyons; 21 grandchildren; many great grandchildren & great great grandchildren; a very special friend, "Bree"; one brother, Alan Roy (Evelyn) Scholl of Florida; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Scholl of Allegany; a son-in-law, James V. Bloise of Cuba; a daughter-in-law, Paulette Kent of Hinsdale; and several nieces & nephews. Along with her loving husband, Patricia was predeceased by a son, Max D. Kent; a daughter, J. "Kathy" Bloise; and two brothers, Douglas & Johnny Scholl. Friends will be received Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street Olean, from 4 pm to 6 pm and again on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 from 11:00 am to Noon, at which time a Funeral Service will be held. The Rev. Gregory J. Dobson will officiate. Burial will be at St. Bonaventure Cemetery.
