Hinsdale – Irene M. Farwell "Loving Mother, Grandmother & Sister"
Irene M. Farwell of 1012 Route 446, passed away on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at home surrounded by her loving family.
Born March 7, 1945 in Hinsdale, she was a daughter of Freemont "Pete" and Violet Dutton Hamilton. On May 9, 1964, in Hinsdale, she married George M. Farwell, Jr., who survives. They celebrated their 50th in May of 2014.
Irene was a graduate of HinsdaleCentralSchool in 1963 and was a graduate of the Bradford Area Schools LPN Program in 1964. She was employed as an LPN at the Valley View Nursing Home in Olean, the Allegany Nursing Home and last as an LPN at the St. Elizabeth Motherhouse, retiring in 2004 after about 40 years, due to illness. Irene was a member of the HinsdaleUnitedMethodistChurch, the Fay Hollow Sunshine Club in Hinsdale, and the Guys and Gals of Hinsdale. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and also loved to bake and do crafts, sewing and making quilts.
Along with her loving husband, Irene is survived by; 2 sons, Richard (Christie) Farwell of Cuba and Timothy (Karie) Farwell of Olean; a daughter Lori Farwell of Hinsdale; 6 grandchildren, Jason Crawford of North Carolina, Sara and Cody Goldsmith, Terrance Farwell, and Corie Farwell all of Olean, and Alexa Farwell of Cuba; 4 great grandsons, Liam Kemp, Jayson Crawford, and Ryan and Connor Farwell; 1 great granddaughter, Serenity Crawford; 2 brothers, Roy (Donna) Hamilton of Hinsdale, and Dick (Linda) Hamilton of Oklahoma; 3 sisters, Arlene Kent and Mary (John) Tetlak both of Hinsdale, and Esther (Herbert) Simmons of Gowanda; several nieces and nephews; and a life-long friend and caretaker, Ramona Witzigman.
Irene was predeceased by her parents and a brother Willard "Bill" Hamilton.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State Street, Olean, on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held at the HinsdaleMethodistChurch, on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Mr. Monroe B. Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in the HinsdaleCemetery, Maplehurst.
