William E. Dailey formerly of 643 Delaware Ave. passed away on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014 at the Absolut at Salamanca Nursing Home.
Mr. Dailey was born July 13, 1931 in Olean and was a son of Fred Elmer and Sarah Ann Barber Dailey. He served his country during the Korean War in the Navy from April 23, 1951 to April 21, 1955. Mr. Dailey was an Olean crossing guard for several years. He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and volunteered at the youth groups through his church. Mr. Dailey enjoyed sports especially the Buffalo Bills and High School sports. He also enjoyed camping. Mr. Dailey liked attending Naval Reunions throughout the country.
Mr. Dailey is survived by two sisters, Leta (Richard) Heap, and Sarah Dailey both of Olean; and two cousins, Nancy (Duane) Loop of Olean, and Thomas B. Barber.
Mr. Dailey was predeceased by one sister, Doris Heap; three half brothers, Bob Benjamin Dailey, Frank B. Dailey, and Frederick Dailey; and three half sisters, Ruth McCure, Phoebe Sherlock, and Carrie Simmons.
Friends will be received on Thursday, Feb. 27, 2014 in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street Olean, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at which time Funeral and Committal Services will be held. The Rev. Suzanne M. Block, Pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Mt. View Cemetery, Veteran's Field of Honor.
