Timothy R. "Tim" Bushnell of Goodrich Ave, passed away Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at his home surrounded by his wife and loving family following a courageous battle with brain cancer.
Tim was born Oct. 5, 1968 in Olean and was of Robert and Sally Smith Bushnell. On Dec. 12, 1992 at the First Baptist church he married his high school sweetheart, Laurie A. Ketchner, who survives.
Tim graduated from Olean High School in 1986. He attended Fredonia from 1986-1990. In 1990, Tim attended the Simon Institute of Funeral Service. He did his internship at Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Home in Bradford and stayed with them from until 1997. Tim changed careers and went to work for Olean Wholesale as a Senior Accountant. In about 2003, Tim returned to school first at the University of Pittsburg at Bradford and then finished his Master's Degree in education at St. Bonaventure University. He began teaching at the Southern Tier Catholic Schools in Olean, then at Cuba-Rushford School as a 3rd Grade teacher and then at Olean Middle School as a 6th Grade teacher. He stopped teaching in March of 2012 due to his illness. Tim was a member of the Believer's Chapel in Allegany. He enjoyed traveling and going to all the area sporting evens. But Tim's true passion was teaching.
Tim will be remembered as "Always put others before himself. He will forever be remembered as an amazing husband, father, son, brother and friend. He loved the Lord and trusted in His plan for his life. Tim affectionately become known to have a "Heart of a Lion" as he lived by the truth in Proverbs 30:30. He retreated before nothing and fought the most courageous battle of cancer. Tim did not lose this battle instead he joined his Heavenly Father where he is driving his truck, camping, golfing, snorkeling and hiking for eternity".
Surviving besides his loving wife of 21 years and his parents are three daughters, Lindsay N., Brooke E., and Alyssa R. Bushnell; one brother, Mike L. (Mandy) Bushnell of Hinsdale; one sister, Heather L. Cooney of Melbourne, FL; his in-Laws, Robert J. and Maunie E. Ketchner of Olean; two brothers-in-law, Robert J. (Paula) Ketchner and Chad F. Ketchner both of Olean; a niece and four nephews.
Friends will be received today, Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014 from 3 pm to 5 pm and from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Believer's Chapel, #2522 West Five Mile Rd, Allegany, where Funeral Services will be held Monday, Feb. 10, 2014 at 12:00 noon. The Rev. Sean D. Obergfell, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be at the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Olean Teacher's and Postal Credit Union, 1700 Constitution Ave., Olean, New York 14760, for a teaching scholarship in his name.
