Magdalene F. Barron

Magdalene F. "Mag" Barron, formerly of Dugan Rd. passed away, Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015 at the Pines Health & Rehab, following a short illness. Mag was born Oct. 23, 1918 in Olean and was a daughter of Archie and Ethel Reynolds Lowe. On May 18, 1943, at the People's Methodist Church, she married Robert T. Barron, who predeceased her on Feb. 8, 1953. Mag was a 1937 graduate of Olean High School. She worked at Westons Shopper City from 1958 to 1961 and then the Market Basket. Mag worked for Cooper Industries for 20 years, retiring in 1981. She was a life long member and the oldest member of the Christ United Methodist Church. Mag was a former member of the White Shrine and Merry Maid Service Club. She enjoyed knitting, word searches, and bird watching. Mag is survived by a son, Duane R. Barron of Bolivar; a daughter, Linda M. Boats of Gowanda; three grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews. Along with her loving husband, Mag was predeceased by two brothers, James & Robert Lowe, and one brother, Glenn C. Lowe, who passed away the day after Mag, Aug. 12, 2015. At Magdalene's request, there will be no Public Visitation. A Memorial Service will be held for her and her brother, in the Outdoor Chapel at Chestnut Hill Cemetery on Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015 at 11:00 am. The Rev. Suzanne M. Block, Pastor of the Christ United Methodist Church, and the Rev. Millard Cook, Associate Pastor of the Olean First Baptist Church, will co-officiate.
