Charles A. Rishel

Charles A. Rishel, of 1265 Congress Road, passed away Tuesday October 25, 2011 in the Olean General Hospital after a short illness. Mr. Rishel was born Oct. 21, 1943 in Reading, PA. He was a son of Samuel A. and Annabelle Harriet Walizer Rishel. On July 17, 1965 in the St. Agnes Church in Lockhaven, Pa., he married his wife of 46 years Rosemary T. King, who predeceased him on January 13, 2011. Mr. Rishel graduated from the Bald Eagle Nittany High School in Mill Hall, PA class 1961. He then graduated in 1965 from the Lockhaven State University with a teaching degree in Mathematics. They moved to Olean and he began teaching at North Hill, while he attended St. Bonaventure University where he received his Master's Degree. He taught for the Olean School System for 21 years retiring in 1985 from the Junior High School. They moved to Georgia for a short period of time where he worked for a mobile home company building mobile home. They returned to Olean in 1986 and began working as a roofing contractor until 2004. Mr. Rishel enjoyed hunting & fishing, playing softball, bowling and building model airplanes. Mr. Rishel is survived by one son, Charles K. (Jill A. Golembiewski) Rishel of Hinsdale; three daughters, Kimberly D. (Tom) Childs of Olean, NY, Valerie A. (Ed Howard) Rishel of West Winfield, NY, and Lynda N. Rishel of Hinsdale, NY; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and one brother, Franklin S. (Linda) Rishel of Clintondale, PA. A Memorial Gathering will be held Saturday, October 29, 2011 from 12:00 noon to 4:00 pm in the Moose Lodge Olean, NY. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Home Care & Hospice Care, 1225 West State Street, Olean, New York 14760. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. Online condolences may be made by clicking on the button above.
