Sherry J. George of 2821 Fairview Ave., passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family, following a lengthy illness.
Sherry was born in Olean on December 3, 1941 a daughter of James E. and Shirley B. "Watson" Favro. On March 25, 1960 at the Free Methodist Church in Olean, she married her loving husband of 55 years Paul A. George, who survives.
Sherry was a 1959 graduate of Olean High School. She worked in the cafeteria at Hinsdale Central School and also in other food service locations. Sherry and her husband were active members of the Hinsdale United Methodist Church. She loved gardening, cooking, crocheting, games, ceramics, and "Yankee" baseball. But, above all she loved her family.
Surviving Sherry besides her husband are three children, Jeffrey (Susan) George of Springville, Sasha (Richard) Stafford of Spencerport, and Jo-Ann (Daniel) Liberati of Olean; six grandchildren, Jenna Lynn (Roger) Thiele, Paul James E. (Mary A.) Strom, Brent Michael Liberati, Ethan Michael George, Noah Charles George, and Simon James George; two great grandchildren, George Alan and Penelope Eloise Strom; two sisters, Connie Hokanson of Georgia, and Sandra Brinegar of California; two sisters-in-law, Lois Favro and Arlene Brice; two brothers-in-law, Robert (Millie) George and Gordon George; and several nieces & nephews.
Sherry was pre-deceased by her parents; a son, Michael David George; a grandson, Jason Daniel Liberati; and her in laws, Elmer and Florence George.
Friends may be received on Friday, July 17, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., #646 E. State St., Olean, where Funeral Services will be held on Saturday July 18, 2015 at 2:00 pm. Mr. Monroe B. Bishop will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hinsdale.
