William L. Jackson of 3970 Gile Hollow Road passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his family following a long battle with cancer.
Bill was born on January 22, 1951 in Olean, son of Ruth Elaine (Hollowell) and stepfather Robert Murray and Jackson. He is survived by his fianc�, Debra Nichols of Hinsdale.
Bill was a 1971 graduate of Hinsdale Central School. After graduation he followed his passion of auto repair and body work. He owned and operated BJ's Collision in Hinsdale. He was also known to work on many special projects for area businesses. He was a member of the Hinsdale American Legion and a former member of Street Masters Car Club of Olean. Bill was an avid NASCAR fan, following Dale Earnhardt and also a Go-Kart racer. Above all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, and his special poodle "Tilly", who was beside him until the end.
Surviving Mr. Jackson is his sister, Sandra Fischer of Hinsdale; three sons, Robert Leon (Karen) Jackson of Olean, Billy Joe (Katherine) Jackson of Lewisburg, Pa., and Joseph Lee (Mari) Jackson of Okinawa, Japan; two daughters, Kimberly Lynn (Jason) Swartz of Fredonia, and Jody Lynn (Shane) Kenjockety of Hinsdale; fifteen grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Jackson was predeceased by his parents and an infant daughter Julie Lynn Jackson.
Friends will be received Friday, February 22, 2013 from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 East State Street, Olean, at which time funeral and committal services will be held. The Rev. Terry L. Jenks pastor of the Maplehurst Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
