William K. Dorler Jr., 56, died unexpectedly Thursday (Feb. 26, 2009).
Born Aug. 15, 1952, in Dunkirk, a son of the late William Dorler Sr. of Dunkirk and Evelyn Boll Of Batavia, he resided At 610 Canary St. and Steger Apartments.
Mr. Dorler was a graduate of Penn state College. He was a jack of all trades who specialized in finished carpentry. In his spare time he collected and sold antiques and enjoyed gardening.
He was a volunteer in the Olean area and member of the Angel Ministry, where he will be sadly missed. His grandmather owned and operated Aggie's Restaurant on Third Street in Dunkirk, where he learned to cook.
He recently adopted Willow, a rescure dog, who was his constant companion and best friend. Together with his wife and good friend, Debbie Mann of Liverpool, he had a son, William Dorler III, who is now a HAZMAT technician.
Together with his second wife, the late Rose Dorler, he had two sons, Jaco Dorler, a Pinceton graduate; and Lucas Dorler, a graduate of Millersville State College.
He is also survived by his sister, Karen Tilly Smith Forster of Fredonia and his brother, Karl Dorler of Dunkirk.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today (March 1, 2009) at Olean First Baptist Church. The Rev. Daniel E. McDowell, pastor. will officiate.
