Virginia L. Edwards of 24 1/2 Genesee Pkwy., Cuba, N.Y., formally of 1611 Co. Rt. 60, Rexville, N.Y. went to be with her Lord Sunday October 23, 2011, at Wellsville Manor Care Center in Wellsville, N.Y., after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
Ginny was born September 15, 1952 in Brooklyn, N.Y. the daughter of Leon and Veronica Armitage Jarrabet. On October 5, 1974 in Rexville, N.Y. she married Nathan B. Edwards, Jr. who survives.
Ginny was a devoted housewife, supporting her husband and family, but also with a tremendous heart for the disadvantaged. She worked for a short period of time as an aide for Steuben ARC, and also in the Greenwood Central School resource room. She loved working with children and young adults, having children in her home for baking cookies, sewing and crafts. She was active in 4-H, teaching sewing skills to its young members. Ginny will be remembered by her love for her church, a good laugh, her dogs, quilting, sewing, embroidery, and crocheting, but most of all her love for her family and friends.
She was a member of the Alfred-Almond Bible Church and she also attended the Cuba First Baptist Church when she could.
Surviving Ginny besides her loving and devoted husband of 37 years are one son, Eric A. Edwards of Rexville; two daughters, Lisa V. Edwards of Leesburg, Va, and Kate A. (Donald) Sprague of Deland, Fl.; two brothers, Clifford (Carol) Jarrabet of Bradford, Pa., and Leon Jarrabet of Montreal, Can.; three sisters, Frances Jarrabet of Bradford, Pa., Barbara (John Didio) Edwards of Almond, and Veronica Edwards of Allen, Texas; and many nieces & nephews and great nieces & nephews.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #24 Genesee Pkwy. Cuba on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Visitation will also be held in Alfred-Almond Bible Church, Almond, NY on Thursday October 27, 2011 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at which time funeral services will be held. The Rev. John Prince, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the Whitesville Rural Cemetery, Whitesville, NY.
