Violet Arlene Hamilton, 91, of Hinsdale passed away Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013, in the Pines Nursing Home, following a lengthy illness.
Violet was born Aug. 16, 1921, in Hinsdale and was a daughter of Willard and Arlene Isaman Dutton. On July 13, 1940 she married her husband of almost 43 years, Freemont (Pete) Hamilton, who predeceased her on June 29, 1983.
Violet was a life long resident of Hinsdale. She graduated from Hinsdale Central School in 1939 and worked at Crosby's Dairy making ice cream with her husband from 1952 to 1970. She was a member of the Hinsdale United Methodist Church, a life member of the Hinsdale American Legion Auxiliary, Fay Hollow Sunshine, and Hinsdale Guys and Gals. Violet enjoyed crocheting, reading, watching her town from the front porch, and bird watching, but her true love was her family and her pets.
Violet is survived by two sons, Roy (Madonna) Hamilton of Hinsdale, and Dick (Linda) Hamilton of Tulsa, OK; four daughters, Irene (George) Farwell of Hinsdale, Arlene Kent of Hinsdale, Mary (John) Tetlak of Hinsdale, and Esther (Herbert) Simmons of Gowanda; 21 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandchildren; three brothers, James (Shirley) Dutton of McAllen, TX, Glenn (Beverly) Dutton of Cuba, and Wayne Dutton of Hinsdale; and many nieces & nephews.
Along with her loving husband, Violet was predeceased by one son, Willard Hamilton; and three brothers, David, Judson, & Ronald Dutton.
Friends will be received Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. 646 E. State St., Olean, from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013 at the Hinsdale United Methodist Church at 11:00 am. Mr. Monroe B. Bishop will officiate. Burial will be at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
