Mrs. Truda S. Prizel of 116 South 14th Street, passed away shortly after arrival at the Olean General Hospital of an apparent heart attack, surrounded by her loving husband and family.
Mrs. Prizel was born June 15, 1937 in Passaic, NJ and was a daughter of John E. and Lois Slawson Munn. On July 13, 1957 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church in Silver Creek, she married Her husband of almost 56 years, Robert C. Prizel, who survives.
Truda was a graduate of Lake Shore Central School class of 1956. She worked at the Castle Restaurant as a receptionist for many years and taught ceramics at Weston's Craft Shop. Truda also worked at OCDC in the baby's room for about 8 years in the mid 1990's. She was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church where she was very active in their Alder Guild and was a past Senior Warden for the church's Vestry. Truda also volunteered at the church for many of their Thanksgiving Day dinners. She was a member of the Eastern Star and she was know to have gift of always being able to make people laugh with her quick wit and was always very happy to see people. She was very supportive of her grandchildren's sporting events and was known fondly by many children of their teams as "Grammie Truda". Truda and her husband enjoyed camping in the Chautauqua Lake area and enjoyed spending time with children, grandchildren and she loved her dog Alice.
Surviving Truda besides her husband are one son, Robert J. (Tiffany) Prizel of Olean; two daughters, Julie A. (Daniel) Carlascio of Cincinnati, OH, and Deborah L. (James) Sebunia of Albany; seven grandchildren, Connor & Jarrett Prizel, Allison, Michael & Samuel Carlascio, and Nicholas & Samantha Sebunia; one brother, Ward (Yvonne) Munn of WA; two sisters, twin Sister, Grace Regan of Buffalo, and Holly Nelson of Philadelphia, PA. Truda was especially found of her daughters-in-law, nieces and nephew Jacqueline, Jocelyn and Jacob Hannahs.
Friends will be received on Friday, March 1, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:00 am in the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. The Rev. Thomas S. Gramley will officiate. Burial will be in the St. Bonaventure Cemetery, Allegany.
