Thomas E. Yaudes of 4115 South Nine Mile Road passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009, at the Olean General Hospital.
Mr. Yaudes was born on June 19, 1932 in Olean, N.Y. and was the son of Herman C. And Gertrude A. Major Yaudes.
Mr. Yaudes graduated from Olean High School with the class of 1951. He served in the U.S. Army from Nov. 19, 1952 to Oct. 30, 1954. Mr. Yaudes worked at Pennsylvania Rail Road for 25 years, retiring in 1982 as a Brakes man. He enjoyed writing and wrote poetry for the senior paper and Horoscopes for the Muse. Mr. Yaudes enjoyed computers and spending his summers at the Rushford Lake.
Surviving Mr. Yaudes besides his life long companion of 39 years, Mary Alice Pezzimenti of Olean, is a daughter, Amy M. (Rick Knapp) Yaudes of Black Creek; three grandchildren, Richard L. (Amanda) Knapp of Olean, Zachary W. Knapp of Black Creek, and Brooke M. Knapp of Black Creek; a great grandson, Aiden C. Knapp of Olean; a sister in-law, Virginia Yaudes of Olean; two nieces; three great nieces; and a great nephew.
Mr. Yaudes is predeceased by two brothers, Jack & Robert Yaudes; a sister, Naomi Yaudes, and a nephew, Jack Yaudes Jr.
Friends will be received in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean on Friday, July 10, 2009 from 3:30 - 4:30 PM. At which time Funeral Services be held. The Rev. Douglas E. Travis, Pastor of the Harvest Field Out Reach Center, will officiate. Burial will be Veteran Field of Honor in the Mt. View Cemetery, Olean.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Allegany Fire Department or to the Amaranth Diabetes Fund in care of Betty Westly, PO Box Weston Mills, and New York 14788.
