Olean- Thomas E. Sandy “Loving Brother”
Thomas E. Sandy of 112 Charles Street passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at Olean General Hospital following an illness.
Tom was born on January 21, 1945, in Olean and was the son of Loran G. and Elouise M. Chaffee Sandy.
Tom graduated from Olean High School in 1965. On Dec. 12, 1965, he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged on Dec. 18, 1967. Tom received an associate’s degree from Williamsport Community College in Commercial Artistry.
Tom worked for Bob Anderson Signs for a couple of years from 1963-1965 and then MacIntosh Tanks & Pumps from 1965-1973 before going to work for Portville Central School in 1981 as a maintenance supervisor where he retired from on July 3, 2002. Tom was a member of the Olean American Legion Post 530 and the Olean VFW Post 1619. Tom was a life member and past commander of both.
Tom is survived by his two children, Stephen Sandy of Ohio, Karen Sandy of Florida, sisters, Ariel M. Molenda of North Port, FL., Lorna J. Thornbury of Olean, and a sister-in-law Mary Jo Sandy of Bradford.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, and three siblings, Glenn A. Sandy on Jan. 6, 2022, John V. Sandy on Nov. 24, 1972, and Annetta J. Moskos on April 29, 1983.
Friends will be received on Monday, September 12, 2022, from 11:00am-12:30pm at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home 646 E State St Olean, NY 14760. Services will follow officiated by Rev.
