Thomas M. Powley, 56, of 421 5th Ave. passed away Dec. 1, 2010 in the Buffalo General Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Tom was born on March 5, 1954 in Olean and was a son Richard M. and Jacqueline M. Cameron Powley. On May 16, 1975 in Olean he married Patricia J. Aderman, who survives.
Tom was a 1972 graduate of Hinsdale Central High School. He worked for McKean Machinery from 1972 to 1987 as a machinist. He owned and operated Hy-Tech Automotive in Olean from 1987 to 1996. Tom went to work at KB Toys and Toy Works for period of time until his illness.
Tom was a former charter member of the Street Masters Car Club of Olean and the Lucky Seven CB Club where he was known as "Daffy Duck". He enjoyed building and driving hotrods and going to the K-Mart Hot Wheels Collector events. He was best know as for his wheeling & dealing when it came to cars and car parts.
Surviving Tom besides his wife of 25 years are his mother, Jacqueline Powley of Hinsdale; two sons, Nicholas S. Powley and Nathan T. Powley both at home; two brothers, Lenard Powley, and John (Catrina) Powley both of Hinsdale; one sister, Della (David) Beeman of Hinsdale; five nephews and three nieces; and several great nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean, where Funeral and Committal Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2010 at 2:00pm The Rev. Glenn I. Treaster will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean.
