Terry W. Humphrey

Terry W. Humphrey of 431 North 7th, passed away on Friday, June 3, 2011 at home following short but courageous battle with lung cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Terry was born June 26, 1947 in Olean and was a son of Edward J. and Beatrice W. Russell Humphrey. On July 21, 1990 in Olean he married Lynne E. Powers-Hellmer, who pre-deceased him on Jan. 20, 2009. Terry worked at Dresser Clarks in Olean for a number of years before becoming a self employed contractor. Having had the passion and the talent for construction and working on homes all of his life, Terry taught himself how to do everything from carpentry, electric, plumbing, masonry and mechanical including automobiles. He was an extremely gifted tradesman. He enjoyed being very active in his grandchildren life's and attending many of the their sporting events. Surviving Mr. Humphrey are two daughters, Tina M. (Gary) Nix of Goldsboro, NC, and Tonya A. (Wayne) Edwards of Cuba; four grandchildren, Grant J. Nix, Collin J. Nix, Alyssa M. Edwards and Caleb T. Edwards; three step children, Jeffery Hellmer of Texas and his children Michael & Katelyn, Debbie (Jeffery) Bray of Canada and her children Nathaniel & Jessica Kalil, and Christine Russell of Olean and her children Nicholas, Emilee & Christopher; a brother, Ron Humphrey of North Dakota; two sisters, Marla (Fred) Torrey of Arizona, and Wendy Beaver of Buffalo; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 at the Creekside Chapel 2523 Five Mile Road, Allegany from 9:30 am to 11:00 am at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The Rev. Ken Tesh, Pastor, will officiate. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E.
