Shirley Ann McKee, of 4115 S. Nine Mile Rd., passed away Thursday, May 30, 2013, at home following a apparent heart attack.
Shirley was born April 6, 1937 in Punxsutawney, PA and was a daughter of Albert W. and Edith Lewis Mack. On Jan. 11, 1957, in Punxsutawney she married her loving husband of 56 years, Melvin H. McKee, who survives.
Shirley graduated from Punxsutawney High School in 1955, were she worked for an eye doctor for several years. Shirley later worked as a greeting card merchandiser for American Greeting Cards in Salamanca and while they lived in Fairmont, WV and Richmond, VA. They moved back to Allegany with in 1998. She worked as a substitute cafeteria worker for Allegany and Limestone schools for the past 10 years. Shirley attended the Creekside Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing cards and marbles, going to yard sales and state & county fairs, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her granddaughters, Kellie & Katie.
In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by one son, Kevin J. (Lynne Preston) McKee of New Field; one daughter, Leslie A. (Randy) Wind of Olean; one sister, Betty (Clair) Rhodes of Boynton Beach, FL; two granddaughters, Kellie A. McKee & Katie M. McKee; and several nieces and nephews.
Shirley was predeceased by two infant grandsons, Randy John & John Joseph Wind; one brother, Jim Mack on Nov. 1, 2011; and one sister, Emma Setree in Feb. 1991.
Friends will be received at the Creekside Methodist Church, Allegany on Monday June 3, 2013 from 3PM to 4 PM, at which time a Memorial Service will be held. The service will be co-officiated by The Rev. Adam D. Stein Pastor of Creekside Methodist Church and The Rev. Ken Tesch former pastor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA, 2944 Route 16N, Olean, NY 14760, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the American Cancer Society, 101 John James Audubon Pkwy, Amherst, NY 14228.
