Shirley A. Burdick of 6698 Crabb Hollow Road passed away Tuesday, Sept. 10 2013 at the Cuba Memorial Hospital following an illness.
Shirley was born Feb. 25, 1928 in Palmyra and was a daughter of Ralph and Irene Garrison Hill. On March 20, 1948 at the First Presbyterian Church in Palmyra, she married her husband of almost 65 years, Edmund C. Burdick, who predeceased her March 2, 2013.
Shirley worked many years for AVX prior to purchasing and running Burdick Trailer Sales in Weston Mills, with her husband. She formerly was a member of the United Methodist Church in Portville and the Portville Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Shirley enjoyed playing computer games, reading, word games, crosswords, fishing, and playing her organ at home.
Shirley is survived by one son, Ricky Lee (Pam) Burdick of Black Creek; two daughters, Sandra J. (David) Greenslade of Avon Park, FL, and Valerie L. (Gary) Rhienhart of Eldred, PA; eight grandchildren, Andria (Chip) McHargue, Adam (Marci) Greenslade, Kenneth (Kary) Rhienhart, Melissa (Bill) Clayson, Angela Burdick, Daniel Johnston, Michael Elliott, and Jacque Elliott; 14 great grandchildren; she had 2 sblings, Ralph Hill and William Hill; and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
Along with her loving husband, Shirley was predeceased by a brother, Robert Hill; and a sister, Dorothy Burgess.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street Olean Monday, Sept. 16, 2013 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm in the funeral home. The Rev. Marilyn K. Hale, Pastor of the Portville First Presbyterian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Allegany Cemetery.
