Sherry L. Hamer

Sherry L. Hamer of 7725 Route 305, passed away on Friday, June 30, 2011 at Home following a lengthy illness. Born August 2, 1944 in Buffalo, NY she was a daughter to Frank and Laurel Muirr Clark. On September 18, 1960 in Belfast, she married her husband of almost 51 year, Richard M. Hamer, who survives. Sherry lived in Fillmore at a young age and later moved to Oramel where grew up. After there marriage, she and her husband moved to Belfast where they worked on the family dairy farm, which they later bought. In 2009 they both retired from farming and sold the farm. Mrs. Hamer was a life long member of the Belfast American Legion Post 1504, where she also tended bar. She enjoyed being around her family, friends & dog Hooch. Surviving Mrs. Hamer, besides her husband are three children, Tracy (Bradley) Jerge of Rushford, NY, Penny (Harold) Schmidt of Houghton, NY, and Buffy (Matt) Greek of Belfast, NY; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one sister, June Sweet of Rochester, NY; one stepsister, Pat Young of Sandusky, NY; two stepbrothers, Donald Nye of Florida, and Roger (Margie) Smith of Oramel, NY; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and step father, Laurel O. and Donald Nye; her father and step mother, Donald & Katherine (Kate) Clark; a son, Richard "Richie" N. Hamer; a sister, Phyllis Waite; a step sister, Barbara Giller; and a step brother, Duane Nye. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 11:00 am at the Hinsdale Cemetery, Hinsdale. The Rev. Howard K. Lockwood, will officiate. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Belfast Rescue Squad. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #24 Genesee Pkwy. Cuba, NY.
