Rochester – Sarah "Ann" Finn Gavin "Loving Wife, Mother, & Grandmother"
Sarah A. Gavin, 81, of 165 Crittenden Blvd, formerly of Allegany, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Highland Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Ann was born on December 20, 1938 in Allegany, NY and was a daughter of the late Clifford and Alice Jones Finn of Allegany. On June 24, 1964, she married her husband of over 55 years, John R. Gavin, who survives.
Ann was a graduate of Allegany High School, OBI, and was highly regarded as a medical secretary to the President of the Children's Hospital Administrator in Buffalo. Ann was a beautiful, bright, shining example of unconditional family love as well as a very loving aunt, great aunt and cousin.
Along with her loving husband, John, Ann is survived by; 2 daughters, Joan (James) Sponn of Grand Island, NY and Mary Alice Gavin of Rochester, NY; 2 sons, John (Deb IQ) Gavin of Scottsville, NY and Mike (Marcia) Gavin of York, NY; 3 granddaughters Catherine, Alex, and Michaela; a grandson Caleb Gavin. Ann was the only girl of 6 children 2 brothers; James Finn of Rochester, NY and Thomas (Barbara) Finn of Buffalo, Ann was predeceased by 3 brothers; John Finn, Donald (Mary) Finn, Clifford Finn, who was killed in Action during the Korean War.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc.,646 East State Street, Olean today, Jan. 27, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday Jan. 28, 2020 at 9:30 am in St. Bonaventure Church. The Rev. James Vacco, Pastor, will celebrate.
