Olean- Ruth E. ‘Neen’ Washington “Loving Mother, Grandmother & Sister”

Ruth E. Washington of Spring Street passed away on Monday, June 5, 2023, at Olean General Hospital.

Ruth was born on June 29, 1942, in Olean and was the daughter of Joseph Lee and Helen Griffin Glover. On September 30, 1961, at Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels Church she married Andrew Washington who predeceased her on November 3, 2017.

Ruth was a 1960 graduate of Olean High School. She worked at Holiday Valley in the mid-1990s and then the Pines Health and Rehab in Olean in the early 2000s. Ruth enjoyed ceramics, baking, sewing and formerly bowled in a bowling league. She loved her family, especially being with her grandchildren. Ruth was a member of Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels Church.

Ruth is survived by her two daughters: Paula J. (Michael A. DeCerbo) Ketchner and Jill E. (Kevin) Cygan both of Olean, four grandchildren: Matthew and Aaron Ketchner and Brynn and Brielle Cygan, and her brother, Richard (Jean) Glover of Michigan.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents, her loving husband, Andrew and her sister Magdalene Simons.

Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Friday, June 9, 2023, from 4:00-6:00pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023, beginning with prayer service at 9:30am at the funeral home followed by a 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. John’s Catholic Church.
