Ruth M. DeRock, formerly of 124 West Main Street Cuba and 102 West Spring Street Olean, passed away Monday, March 24, 2014 at the Pines Health & Rehab, following a lengthy illness.
Ruth was born April 2, 1927 in Franklinville and was a daughter of Charles W. and Tessie Deveraux Chapman. On June 25, 1954, in Oramel, she married her husband of 38 years, William J. "Jack" DeRock, who predeceased her Aug. 29, 1992.
Ruth worked at ACME for over 20 years, retiring in 1984. She was a former member of the Cuba United Methodist Church. Upon their retirement Ruth and her husband moved to Plano, TX. They moved back to Olean area first to Aspen Tower and then to West Spring Street. Ruth enjoyed gardening, raising birds, and making jewelry.
Ruth is survived by three children, Charles W. "Skip" (Jackie) DeRock of Black Creek, Mrs. Deborah J. (Kevin) Forness of Olean, and William James (Bobbi) DeRock, III of Albuquerque, NM; eleven grandchildren, Nathan, Tammy, Terry, Kristy, Jason, Ricky, Jenny, Justin, Cody, Teegan, and Ann; seven great grandchildren; one sister, Abby (Lee) Cleveland of Yorkshire; and many nieces & nephews.
Along with her loving husband, Ruth was predeceased by a sister, Nellie Rogers; and four brothers, Alfred, Wayne, Raymond, & Ronald Chapman.
At her request there will be no visitation or Funeral Services. Burial will be in the Cuba Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street Olean, New York 14760.
