Ruth E. Boyce of 336 Laurel Avenue, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at the Buffalo General Hospital following an illness.
Ruth was born March 20, 1946 in Troy and was the daughter of John H. and Dorothy H. Koeppe Martin. On Oct. 21, 1966, in Guilderland Center she married her loving husband of 47 years, Duane F. Boyce, who survives.
Ruth graduated from Guilderland Central High School in 1964. She earned her Associate Degree in Business Administration from SUNY Cobleskill in 1966. Ruth worked for Delaware and Hudson Railroad while she lived in West Burn and Round Lake. For the past 15 years she worked at Lester Shoe Fly in Olean and was a member of the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.
Ruth loved to design and make quilts and made many of them for her family and friends. She also enjoyed baking, gardening, canning and walking her dogs. Ruth truly loved her family and her pets. Her true enjoyment came from spending time with her grandchildren, who were the "Apples of her eye."
Along with her loving husband, Ruth is survived by one son, Duane Scott Boyce of Oakwood, VA; two daughters, Patricia E. (Peter J.) Scelfo of Fredericksburg, VA, and Jennifer L. S. (Bryan) Maready of Maple Hill, NC; and two grandchildren, Sara L. Maready & Hunter J. Maready.
Friends will be received on Thursday evening, May 23, 2013, in the St. Stephen's Episcopal Church from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at which time Funeral Services will be held. The Rev. Barbara Baxter will officiate in the absence of the Rector Kim E. Rossi. Burial will be in the Onslow Memorial Park, Jacksonville, NC. On June 1, 2013 at 2:00 pm.
