Allegany- Robert L. Ratzel “Loving Father & Grandfather”
Robert L. Ratzel, 85, of 3072 Buffalo Road passed away at Olean General Hospital following an illness.
Robert was born on October 27, 1936, in Olean and was the son of Earl and Nina Willover Ratzel. On August 6, 1955, he married his Joyce Lee Cameron who predeceased him July 8, 1996.
Robert worked at Worthmore Feed and Olean’s Dresser Clark where he retired from in 1998 after working there for 50 years. Robert enjoyed being a father and loved spending time with his grandchildren and family on Christmas. Robert also enjoyed going to the Casino, off track betting, taking his family to Allegany State Park, hunting, and fishing whenever he could. Robert was formerly a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church.
Robert is survived by his four children, Denise L. (Ron) Hoellig of Cuba, Mary Ann (Paul Pantano) Powley of Hinsdale, Cindy S. (Jerry Hewitt) Hitt of Allegany, Robin L. (David) Peters of Englewood, FL., nine grandchildren, Tammy, Christopher, Kenneth, Robert, Michael, Scott, Jennifer, Jessica, and Michelle, many grandchildren, nieces and nephews two siblings, Richard (Nancy) Ratzel of Cuba, and Joan Carls of Olean.
Robert was predeceased by his parents, his loving wife, Joyce, and several brothers and sisters.
Friends will be received on Friday August 12, 2022, from 12:00-2:00pm at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean. Services to follow officiated by The Rev. Dr. Derek J. Cheek Pastor of the St. John’s Lutheran Church. Burial will be in Allegany Cemetery.
