Robert V. Herrmann of 302 North Clinton Street passed away Monday, April 18, 2011 at Olean General Hospital following a brief illness.
Mr. Herrmann was born on November 3, 1928 in Hamburg and he was the son of Valenteen and Isabelle Walter, Herrmann.
Mr. Herrmann reached the rank of Sgt. in the U.S. Army in which he served during the Korean War from Jan. 10, 1951 to Oct. 9, 1952. During the war he was injured and received a Purple Heart for sachfice. In 1969, he became the owner of the "Mr. Fix It Shop" and he also worked for Henry Eade till his retirement in 1993.
Surviving Mr. Herrmann are eleven children, Linda (Brian) Zglinicki, Bobby Herrmann, Debbie (Don) Yerke, Susan (Laurence) Pacanowski, Richard (Sandy) Herrmann, Sarah (Lou) Labodie, Eileen (Dana) Payne, Dominick Cottone, Russell Cottone, Robert Herrmann, and Doris (Calvin Jeter) Herrmann; a brother, Jack (Diane) Herrmann; 26 grandchildren; and 6 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased in death by his wife Lois Ertell and a daughter Josephine Despard.
Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests helping a child in need or donating to the Olean general Hospital, 515 Main Street, Olean, NY 14760 for the Second Floor Fund.
