Portville- Richard Lee Seybert “Devoted Family Man”
Richard Lee Seybert of 1275 Portville Obi Road, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at the Highland Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wellsville following an illness.
Rick was born November 26, 1950, in Olean and was the son of Ralph Lee and Lillian Allegra Payne Seybert. On December 10, 1971, he married his loving wife of 50 years Annette M. Hill who survives.
Rick was a class of 1968 graduate of Allegany High School. He was a graduate and an ROTC Cadet at St. Bonaventure University receiving his bachelor’s degree in science and Teaching in 1974. Rick enlisted in the US Army as an officer where he served active and reserves for 10 years until December 20, 1984. During that time, he served at Aberdeen Proving Grounds in Maryland as long with the Indian Town Gap in Hershey PA. After his service to our country, he was a biology teacher in Allegany for about 10 years before starting his business Midas Muffler in Olean. He ran Midas Muffler for 23 years as well as sold cars at his dealership Seybert auto sales for 35 years retiring in 2015.
Rick was a lifelong sportsman, especially enjoying hunting. He enjoyed reading especially his bible, playing guitar, and walking his dog. His true love was his family, he loved spending time with them especially his grandchildren.
Along with his loving wife, Annette, Rick is survived by; 2 daughters, Gina C. (John) Zeigler and Alyssa L. (Andy) Hall both of Portville; 8 grandchildren, Justus Zeigler, Samuel Zeigler, Jake Zeigler, Kirkland Hall, Grace Hall, Carter Hall, Elisha Hall and Christian Hall; 2 siblings, Connie Vecellio of Albany and Dennis (Shannon) Seybert of Limestone.
Rick was predeceased by his parents.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Sunday, May 22, 2022 from 1:00PM to 3:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at the Believers Chapel the west chapel at 2522 West Five Mile Road, Allegany on Monday May 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM. Rick’s son in law Rev. Andy C. Hall, Rev.
