Duane Holdridge of 3851 Fay Hollow Road passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Holdridge was born on March 3, 1935 in Olean and was a son of William and Nina Holdridge. On April 14, 1956 in the Ischua Union Church he married Sandra L. Johnson, who survives.
Mr. Holdridge began farming in 1951 at the 16 and has farmed all of his life. He and his wife owned and operated Holdridge Farm. Mr. Holdridge also was a Seed Dealer Salesman with Hoffman Seeds & UAP Distribution and GLF Feeds. He also worked at Rhodes Bakery as a young man. Mr. Holdridge enjoyed hunting and cutting firewood. He was a former member of the Hinsdale Grange and the Olean-Hinsdale Odd Fellows Lodge. Mr. Holdridge was regularly referred to as the "Mayor of Fay Hollow".
Surviving Mr. Holdridge besides his wife are two sons, George W. Holdridge of Hinsdale, and Howard D. (Jeannette) Holdridge of Oneida, N.Y.; a daughter, Lori J. (Mark) Lombardo of Allegany; seven grandchildren, Nicole Lombardo, Ryan Lombardo, Ethan Holdridge, Brittany Holdridge Erica Holdridge, Shauna Holdridge and Kayleigh Holdridge; two step grandchildren, Luke and Emily LaGoy; a brother, Clair Robert Holdridge of Michigan; two sisters, Elizabeth Worley of Michigan, and Wynona Mele of Florida; and several nieces & nephews.
Mr. Holdridge was pre-deceased by his father, William Holdridge; mother and step father, Nina and Howard Morgan; a sister, Catherine Marie Lute; a half sister, Nina Brown; and a half Brother, Donald Holdridge.
Friends will be received on Friday, July 25, 2008 from 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. in the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street, Olean, where funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. The Rev. Dr. Carl Schultz will officiate. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Olean, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hinsdale Fire Department or the American Cancer Society.
