Cheektowaga- Paul H. Crawford “Loving Father, Grandfather & Great Grandfather”
Paul H. Crawford of 43 West Toulon Drive, Cheektowaga, formerly of Olean passed away Monday April 18, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Paul was born June 1, 1923, in Lancaster and was the son of John C. Crawford and Mabel C. Barnes Crawford. On July 26, 1947, Paul married his wife of 59 years Helen Mitchell who preceded him in passing on February 12, 2007.
Paul graduated from Olean High School in 1941. In 1943 he served in the United States Army for 2 years before returning to his hometown, Olean. He began working at the Lincoln Mercury dealership in Olean until he moved his family to Jamestown in 1956. He then began working for General Motors in Tonawanda. During this time, he then moved the family to Buffalo, NY in 1960. In 1972, he moved his family to Cheektowaga. In 1984 Paul retired from General Motors after 35 years of service.
Paul truly enjoyed working on cars. That was his passion. He also fixed everything around the house and assisted others in the neighborhood. He was an avid fan of jazz. He has an extensive collection of jazz records. Paul was a member of the UAW and a member of the American Legion in Portville.
Paul is survived by 7 children, Bruce Crawford and Stephen A. Crawford of Jamestown, Michael P. Crawford of Buffalo, Mel J. Crawford and John M. Crawford of Atlanta Georgia, Roberta L. Crawford of Rochester, and Camille Y. Crawford of Cheektowaga. He was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren.
Paul was preceded by his parents, his wife Helen, and 9 siblings Thomas, Mabel, William, John, Cerise, Edgar, Arthur, Thelma, and Iris.
Friends will be received at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St., Olean on Friday April 22, 2022, from 11:00am-12:00pm at which time a funeral service will be held. The Rev. Reginald D. Smith Jr. will officiate. Interment will be in the Mount View Cemetery in Olean.
