Patricia J. Potter of 636 E. State St, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2014 at the Olean General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Potter was born April 17, 1942 in Bradford, PA and was the daughter of Joseph and Mary Ruby Scarano. On June 15, 1963 in Bradford, PA she married her husband of almost 51 years, Gerald H. Potter, who survives.
Mrs. Potter worked at Seneca Craftsmen in Salamanca for about 8 years as a spray painter. Later she started working at the Pines Nursing Home in Olean in about 1994, until her retirement in 2004. Mrs. Potter and her husband lived in Salamanca from 1969 to 1993 at which time they moved to Olean. She was a drummer for more than 25 years in various bands in the 1960's, 70's & 80's. Mrs. Potter played in many, many jamborees and benefits to help others. She enjoyed bowling, doing crafts, and woodworking around the house, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandson.
Along with her loving husband, Mrs. Potter is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth J. Marsh of Hinsdale, and Marie A. (Anthony) Verolini; three grandchildren, Michael J. Potter, Misti L. Potter, & Justine M. Marsh; one great grandson, Ethan J. Potter; one sister, Beverly O'Neil of Jarvis, SC; and several nieces & nephews.
Mrs. Potter was predeceased by one brother, Joseph Scarano.
Friends will be received Sunday, May 4, 2014 at the direction of the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc. #646 E. State Street Olean from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10:00 AM. The Rev. Millard C. Cook, Associate Pastor of the Olean First Baptist Church will officiate. Burial will be at the Mt. View Cemetery in Olean.
